If you love nature and animals, there are tons of wonders to explore when you visit the aquarium. Luckily, the National Aquarium in nearby Baltimore offers online resources, which you can enjoy from our apartments in Millersville. Here are some of the exciting ways that you can connect to the aquarium from home.
Check Out the Live Cams
During business hours, the National Aquarium offers three live cams, and after hours, you can still watch prerecorded streams of the animals. Blacktip Reef allows you to see the sharks and other ocean creatures swimming among the coral. With the Jellies Invasion, you can see an assortment of jellyfish. You can also enjoy watching fish swimming in the Pacific Coral Reef.
Learn About the Animals
Even when you can’t see the aquarium’s animals in-person, you can continue to learn about them online. Learn about typical aquarium animals, such as the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin or the giant Pacific octopus. You can also learn about some of the animals that you might not normally associate with an aquarium, such as the laughing kookaburra or the Linne’s two-toed sloth. While you’re learning about other animals, be sure to read up on Irwin’s Snapping Turtle. The National Aquarium is the only place outside of Australia where these turtles can be found.
Watch YouTube Videos
If you are looking for a fun way to see more of the National Aquarium from your home, be sure to visit the aquarium’s YouTube channel. Lately, they’ve put out several 360 Videos. Not only are these educational, but you can also move the video feed around to see the exhibits in greater detail. Many of the 360 Videos are around 10 minutes long. The videos feature things such as animal feedings and enrichment activities. You can also watch videos to learn more about the aquarium and to learn interesting nature facts.
After you virtually explore the aquarium, check out the Maryland Zoo—another exciting way to interact with nature right from your apartment in Millersville.Back to all posts
