Following the Washington, Baltimore & Annapolis Electric Railway Corridor, the WB&A Trail stretches 13.1 miles through Anne Arundel and Prince Georges counties. The railroad ran electric commuter trains from 1908 to 1935. Today, portions of the corridor have been turned into roads, rail-trails, and light rail lines. The path’s northern section meanders between downtown Odenton and the Patuxent River. It takes runners through suburban backyards before reaching a wooded setting.
South Shore Trail
Found along the abandoned roadbed of the WB&A Railroad, the South Shore Trail offers a short half-mile adventure. It’s a part of the East Coast Greenway, connecting trails from Maine to Florida. Adjacent to a horse farm, the path offers both rural and urban scenery. Runners enjoy the easy terrain, and South Shore is perfect for those just getting started.
Oregon Ridge Park Running Trail
The Oregon Ridge Park Running Trail is one of the most beautiful running trails near Millersville. It offers scenic views, featuring several creek crossings and red berries during the summer months. For a longer adventure, Oregon Ridge connects to the Loggers Trail. Spanning 2.2 miles, it passes a gas pipeline path, and an old ski slope provides a picturesque look at the Hunt Valley before descending a hill and leading back to where you started.
After your run, kick back with a thrilling e-book from the Anne Arundel County Public Library.
